Where Does Inspiration Come From?

What inspires you as an artist? Is it the colors you see everyday? Is it the night sky or oily patterns in a puddle? I remember seeing a documentary on one of the Mars rovers and the photos that were sent back to Earth. The landscape was one of black, red and white in swirly textures. I went to sleep that night with those images in my head and in the morning started to sketch a collection of pieces using them as inspiration. That is where my copper bracelet collection came from and although the results differed greatly from the original idea, it was a great jumping off point. What inspires you?
