Realizing You Can't Do Everything

If you run your own small business one of the hardest things to do is to let go of some tasks and delegate them to others. This could be hiring an accountant, a web developer or in the case of a jewelry artist, a casting house to make copies of some of your work. There comes a point in time when one has to decide if a task is worth one's time; as we all know time is money. In my case, I've been working on hang tags and earring cards for my jewelry. I'm really good with design and layout programs and I love doing that type of project. However, after printing out some nice ones and then trying to cut them out neatly and punch nice, clean holes in the earring cards I realized I was wasting my time. I was on Etsy and found a lovely shop there that makes exactly what I was looking for: fubabee.etsy.com I got some lovely hang tags and earring cards to match my brand. They arrived quickly and were inexpensive. Best of all, I saved myself hours of work that instead went into making new pieces.....much more important! If you have any other ideas and ways to save time.....let's hear it!

Thank you for sharing - it always great when we hear someone else talk about the same things we struggle with - finding time to get everything done. It's a great reminder that we need to divide and conquer - and focus on our expertise and let others assist us with theirs.
