My family was amused when I asked for an acetylene torch for Mother's Day. My husband likes to tell the story of walking into the local welding shop and asking for torch as a gift for his wife! I suppose that there is still a certain amount of sexism that hangs around, despite all our attempts at keeping things non-biased!
I'm a tool junkie. I love collecting tools almost as much as I love using them. I can't have enough tools. If I could, I would have every tool in the Rio Grande catalogue, whether I could use it or not!
Above is a picture of my newest acquisition. It just arrived and I'm firing it up as I write this.
Anyway, I'd love to hear from all you women out there who feel the same way and tell me:
1) what is your most recent purchase?
2) what you are yearning for?
3) what is your favorite tool of the moment?
Oh, and Happy New Year!

Women Who Love Tools!

Yup, I love tools - I drool over pneumatic staple guns and already have brad guns, scroll saws and fun equipment for making sculptures.
Don't tell anyone but I use my acetylene torch mostly for carmelizing the tops of my creme brulees, lol! Way better than those whimpy kitchen torches!
1. Most recent: Special dentist drill attachment for detailed carving into all types of materials
2. Computer laser cutter!!
3. Aside from my computers? That darn torch - been on a flan and brulee spree lately
Happy New Year to you too!
Wow; I am impressed ... I am afraid I have little or no knowledge of tools. But, I must admit that that looks pretty interesting.
Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving your comment; I appreciate it!
OOh, my favorite subject! My husband and I are also have this role. He likes clothes and books and going to dinner, I like, no LOVE tools! I was given, this past summer a brand new Bosch table saw and chop saw. I have been remodeling our 104 year old house for seven years and he finally took the hint that it was OKAY to get me new tools. Our friends shake there heads when I tear open a new chisel and squeal like I just got a 4 carot diamond ring!
As for what I yearn for:
A fully outfitted woodshop! I work outside right now.
My latest purchase was a new dremel.
My favorite tool is my air compressor and brad guns!
I'd love to own the delta saw that stop instantly when it detects anything other than wood touching the blade. I have four children dying to use my tools someday and I am nervous about accidents etc.
Thanks for the great post and kind comment over at SWB!
1) what is your most recent purchase? A sinusodal (sp?) stake for doing anticlastic forming!
2) what you are yearning for?
I'm yearning for an actaul studio space. It may not be what many people think of as a tool. Right now my tools are in my Dad's barn but it's far from where and live and not really practiacl. Sometimes it drives me to the point of tears, that's how much I want a studio.
3) what is your favorite tool of the moment?
My hammer I bought at an old barn sale. It's really heavy, has a great carved handel and gets the job done! I love old tools!
My latest tool was a riveting hammer. My favorite for the moment seems to be my new extra long round nose pliers. Great for making jump rings and clasps. I might forsee a kiln in my future, as I am planning to take some PMC classes this month.

Well I don't love tools but I do love gadgets. I didn't even realize it until recently my father said that I was the Gadget Queen! Ha!
Recent purchase: Webcam
Pining for: iPhone
Favorite: computer, hands down... until I get my iPhone, I'm sure.
As far as tools go, I think an apron... I think it was Corline's blog that talked about how useful an apron is! :)
I know how to use 2 tools....a hammer and a screw driver....okay I guess I can figure out a drill as well. LOL! But kudos to you for being a tool junkie. I always wished I was handy with tools...if I was I would be a carpenter. I think that would be super cool. Plus I would be able to make all my own furniture....ha ha!!
